Cornwall Property Market thriving this Autumn says Lillicrap Chilcott

The last two months have seen us agree no less than ten sales of properties priced between £1,000,000 and £3,000,000 – clear evidence that we are experiencing a very different market to Savills’ Truro office whose manager Jonathan Cunliffe was quoted in The Times in late September saying: “Premium buyers simply aren’t around right now. There are some people still holding out for 2007 prices – it’s just not going to happen.”

 
Unlike Savills we know that it is happening and happening with notable regularity. In recent months we’ve increased our Truro-based team to 19 to cope with the number of enquiries from potential purchasers looking to buy a home in Cornwall.
 
The last three months have seen us agreeing new sales on 89 properties worth a total of £50,000,000 and with an average price of just under £550,000. Among them is a delightful family home in St Ives that had been on the market with a local agent for 9 months before being passed to Lillicrap Chilcott in the summer. The first three viewers we showed around the property all wanted to buy it and a sale was quickly agreed and completed within 8 weeks to a charming couple from Buckinghamshire.

They contact us because we are one of the highest profile estate agencies in the county and they consider it ridiculous that other firms think they might begin their search for a Cornish property by walking the streets of London looking for a London firm with some spurious link to another firm in Cornwall. We are here and we’re staying put.”
